TOP TIPS FOR AUDITORY LEARNING STYLES

Discuss concepts/facts/aspects with friend immediately after new learning
Do revision with friend(s) via telephone.
Tape record lesson or notes for re-listening later
Say facts/formulas/information over and over to retain
Simultaneous talking-walking studying
Set information to rhyme, rhythm, or music to aid retention
Aural Mnemonics
Remember where information was located in auditory field (e.g. tagged to "who said that?")
Use of different voices to study (like creating a script, or acting out a play)
TV/video/radio supplements useful for obtaining information
Use group discussion and/or study groups

Auditory learners prefer to learn through receiving information through speech. By listening to the tone of voice, speed and pitch of speech auditory learners can pick out key information in lessons.

You often prefer to work in a group and include discussions in your study sessions. You learn best through auditory inputs such as: -
Verbal lectures
Discussions
Talking about key information
Listening to others

  • Form a study group with other auditory learners in your course to discuss key information/topics.

  • When you are studying alone read your notes out loud – this will help you to remember key information.

  • Record important parts of lessons or your notes – this allows you to review the information later play these recordings back when you are travelling to college using a personal stereo.

  • Make your own “podcasts” using your mobile phone or a digital voice recorder. Get other people to record for you too– both making the podcast and using it will help you learn!

WHAT NOT TO DO FOR ALL LEARNERS
HOW NOT TO REVISE

  • avoid revision
  • lay on your bed or sit in a comfy armchair
  • spend too long at each revision session until your mind is confused
  • leave it too late, then worry
  • re-read everything with no plan
  • re-write your notes
  • learn new material
  • write model answers and learn them
  • panic

Discuss with a partner why these are not good ways to revise.
