Different
Relationships
Consider with a partner how relationships with teachers
will be different from your experiences up to Year 11.
Write down as many differences as you can think of.
An Ideal Student
Imagine
that you are a tutor teaching a course.
What qualities make an ideal student?
Make a list and compare it with a partner’s.
Arrange the ideas that you have come up with in order of
importance.
Which aspect of your job would give you the most
satisfaction and which would you dislike most?
Ask your teachers for their views. Were you right?
Case Studies
Now
that you have considered some of the changes in the
attitudes of tutors and teachers of post 16 students, look
at the
case studies
which explore some of the problems that you may have to
deal with.
Look at each situation and think about and discuss with a
partner the options that are open to you. Decide what
possible action you could take in each case and think about
the consequences. From this, write down a strategy that you
can pursue to improve the situation.
Don’t Forget
There is an ideal lesson framework which tells you what to
expect from your classes and sets out what your teachers
expect from you.
Look at the
diagrams!
